Oulton BSB: 'Season over' for Mackenzie

Reigning Bennetts British Superbike king Tarran Mackenzie has ruled himself out of any further action in 2022 as he undergoes an operation on a broken femur.

Mackenzie crashed at Oulton Park yesterday and was hit by Peter Hickman who had nowhere to go but over the McAMS Yamaha rider. It means there will be a new champion crowned at Brands Hatch.

“I don’t know what to say other than a huge thank you to all of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship staff, medics and marshals,” said Mackenzie.

“I worked so hard all year to be in the best form possible heading into the showdown and unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. That’s my 2022 season over.

“I’m gutted to end it like this after such a strong comeback with McAMS Yamaha Team. All being well I should get an operation on my femur today and be on the mend soon. Thanks for all the kind messages.”
