Padgett's Honda remain positive over BSB future

Padgett's Honda team are remaining positive that they will be able to continue their quest to compete in the MCE British Superbike series this year.

The team have been taking part in the official BSB testing, but are still without some key sponsors. Team owner Clive Padgett says things are progressing well, particularly during the testing at Snetterton today, and the team are firmly concentrating on their future with new rider Jakub Smrz.

“It does seem to be coming together, and it’s dove tailing together. We are anxious for that to happen and if we can pull that together, then lets go for it. We will be hoping to maybe make another test next week, but we will see. We will try and keep pushing forward," said Padgett, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“The weather is cold and its great to be out on track and Jakub has picked up the circuits very quickly but so far it could not be better. We are somewhere around the front, and it’s a start of a great relationship.”

Smrz experienced racing on the Snetterton 300 track for the first time today, and managed to remain in the top half of the timesheets. Things are going well for the Czech Republic rider and the Padgett's team, and Smrz hopes that a sponsor is sorted soon.

“It is the first time I have been on the Snetterton 300 track, and I am surprised. I like the track a lot and it is very similar to the European tracks that I am used to, I am enjoying it and it is fun. In my opinion Clive and the guys are doing a good job and we are already close to the bike that I need, and to be one of the fastest is always good especially when we are looking for sponsors. I hope my performance will help in bringing someone in who can help us into a BSB garage," said the former World Superbike rider.

“Today it is very cold but it is possible to make some good laps. The team are working hard and we are trying to find the best lines and a good bike set up, and we are not far from the top and I am enjoying it.”
