Returning MCE British Superbike star Stuart Easton is determined to keep his Showdown spot at this weekend’s Oulton Park triple-header despite breaking his left ankle and right tibia in a crash at Brands Hatch just five weeks ago.
The PBM Kawasaki man has put all his efforts into getting somewhere near fit for the top-six final push and currently holds fifth place ahead of Michael Laverty and also has a 34-point advantage over Honda’s Dan Linfoot in seventh - the only rider with a realistic hope of making it in.
"I have been so focused on Oulton Park as that always had to be my goal - because the Showdown is still there I couldn't give up on it until I had tried everything to be in it. A couple of weeks ago I thought it wouldn't be possible but I am now really positive that I can ride. There is obviously a big difference between riding and racing for a top ten finish in BSB, I know that,” said Easton.
"If it was just down to will alone I would make the Showdown because I have done everything possible to come back to Oulton Park and make it happen. It is exciting to be in this position now knowing it could still be possible to make the Showdown even after missing so many races - we are coming to try and make it happen. It is a big ask, but it certainly won't be through the want of trying if we don't make the top six."
