Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki man Shane Byrne has blitzed the opening practice of this weekend's Silverstone 200, going 1.7s faster than team-mate Stuart Easton.

Byrne went round in 2'10.186 compared to the Scotsman's 2'11.920 but Easton has the PTR Honda World Supersport Hondas of Jules Cluzel and Sam Lowes for company and they are only a tenth and two-tenths respectively further back.

Lowes led the session early on but Byrne soon made his mark, posting a 2'11.963 and then dropping beneath the 2'11 mark not long after. He set this fastest lap with only a few minutes left but the session was reg-flagged due to circuit debris.

GBmoto Honda's Tristan Palmer is fifth, Luke Jones on the Superstock-spec 777RMotorsport BMW S1000RR sixth, Jon Railton (Superstock) seventh, Aaron Zanotti (Superbike) eighth, Joe Burns (Superstock) ninth and Luke Quigley (Superbike) tenth.
