Two-time British Superbike Champion Shane Byrne has taken his Rapid Solictors Kawasaki to the first Silverstone 200 race win this afternoon, coming in more than five seconds ahead of Richard Cooper. in a shortened six-lapper.
The Kent man was 23rd on the opening lap but scythed through the field in race which was re-started after rain put paid to the first part before lap one had finished. He went past early leader and team-mate Stuart Easton, who dropped to third and eventually crashed out at Club.
Cooper, meanwhile, held on to third with Oxford TAG Triumph British Supersport team-mate Christian Iddon in fourth after they went past John Laverty's BSB-spec Splitlath Aprilia. Sam Lowes and Jules Cluzel, starting from the back of the grid after a late tyre-change, took sixth and seventh behind the Superstock-spec Carbontek BMW of Aussie David Johnson.
