Reigning Bennetts British Superbike king Josh Brookes has admitted he is dreading this weekend's Silverstone Showdown decider as the Australian hasn't garnered much success there while aboard the Ducati Panigale.
Brookes' best result at the Towcester track on the V4R is a second last year but aside from that, he hasn't troubled the podium. However, he also believes the tyre allocation could fall in his favour.
“Without putting too fine a point on it, I’ve been dreading Silverstone coming round as it’s a circuit which hasn’t been too kind to us over my time on the PBM Ducati there," said Brookes.
"My favoured SC0 tyre is the only option available for this weekend so maybe that puts me in a stronger position as I used it all weekend at Snetterton when others were using the SCX option.
"So, I’m hoping there may be a silver lining and with it being a pivotal round as it’s my last chance of getting into the Showdown, which I’ve done every year I’ve raced in BSB, I’ll do my best.”
Brookes has to comprehensively outscore Bradley Ray and Lee Jackson to make it in to the Showdown while also keeping a beady on Ryan Vickers and rookie Rory Skinner.
