Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes was the fastest rider out on the Silverstone track in this afternoon’s MCE British Superbike free practice outing, but the Derby rider still feels that he can improve even more, and go even quicker tomorrow.
Lowes did not venture out of his garage in the opening free practice due to the poor weather, but did make an impact in the final session of the day. The rider did not want to risk anything or crash, but did do enough to clock a 2'08.651 and has the double in his sights again.
“It was alright as the track was damp and getting better but it is irrelevant on the Friday, but we have lots to work on. I didn’t want to crash as the track was a bit dodgy and I just wished we had the sunshine a bit earlier,” said Lowes, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.
“I can do the double again, but whether I do or not is a different thing. I can only do my best, I had done three doubles, if you discount the qualification and I am feeling good. But there is still a long way to go in the championship as there are still five races left and I need to work my ass off and put myself in a good position after this weekend.”
