Silverstone BSB: Iddon third on the starting grid for opening race

Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon has certainly gelled with his S1000RR after soaring to the front row of the MCE British Superbike grid, for the opening race at Silverstone tomorrow.

The Stockport native lapped a 2’05.727 in qualifying three this afternoon and will start race one from third place. Iddon was not fazed by the conditions which started off slightly damp in places, but then did dry up for the final qualifying session.

He is feeling relaxed and chilled for the double-header on Sunday and is happy with his BMW. But what Iddon is most pleased with is the fact that he can run a consistent pace on his machine and it showed today.

“Conditions were fine to be fair. In the first session I went out on wets and came straight back in and on the last stage for me it was fine - it was dry,” said Iddon at the track.

“Last year I was able to run a pace but not consistently, so now I am just happy to be on a bike where I can run a consistent pace. I can do the same lap over and over again and I can breathe through a race and I am chilled out, and looking forward to tomorrow really.”
