Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey is feeling prepared for the MCE British Superbike qualifying sessions, after a successful second free practice outing at Silverstone today. The ZX-10R rider lapped a 2’06.764 and was only one of two racer’s to reach the 2’06’s.
Being inside the top two has given Mossey a confidence boost ahead of FP3 and qualifying on Saturday. His team did not change much on his bike today, and if he has the pace to get in to Q3 he is looking forward to competing in the one lap qualifier.
Mossey did his fastest time on a zero tyre, but felt ‘unsettled’ in the opening free practice session due to the unpredictable weather conditions, but was pleased that he ended the day somewhere near the sharp end.
“At the start we used a one then when we went on a quick lap with a zero. It has been an up and down day and as a rider it is really unsettling because you work yourself up and then it starts drizzling and it messes with your head, but to finish second on the first day I am fairly happy. Hopefully we will have the same performance tomorrow and Sunday and it should be a good weekend,” said Mossey, speaking to Bikesportnews.com.
“We just done feedback today because I was ill during the test last week, but the bike is feeling good and we have got another free practice in the morning but not sure if we will make any changes tomorrow morning. I think we are ready for qualifying so if we get in to Q3 I am very much looking forward to this one lap system.
“It is a confidence boost and it gives you more confidence going into qualifying as long as we have a good free practice three it is looking good for qualifying. Hopefully we will be there or there about’s and only time will tell now.”
