McConnell-Brown Motorsport’s Marshall Neill finished fourth at Silverstone in the Metzeler National Superstock race championship, his highest position of the season so far due to him switching from a Honda to a Suzuki.
Following the change in manufacturers there was an immediate improvement in Neill’s performance and results which has included a couple of top five finishes and a front row start. Neill said: “The Suzuki feels better it has more top speed and I think maybe it’s not even that, it just fits my riding style better. Maybe the Hondas are too timid for me,” he also joked.
“The first time I was on a Honda was here last year and Brands, I had a DNF due to mechanical problem and then I crashed at Brands. At the start of the year I seemed to struggle a bit and through the year I struggled more. The Suzuki seems to bring the hunger back out of me.”
“People watching me on the Suzuki seem to think that it suits me better and I am fighting with the bike more, it’s hard to put my finger on it, but hopefully I am not to far away from standing on the podium.”
A regular to the championship Neill as usual aims to return to the category in 2010 if possible.
