Rizla Suzuki's Tom Sykes has been disqualified from the result of race one at the Silverstone British Superbike round this afternoon after being adjudged to have ridden carelessly.
Sykes put a move on Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow on lap three of the race, resulting in both Sykes and Haslam crashing. Both remounted to finish.
The Huddersfield youngster has also been moved back 12 places on the grid for race two.
The official statement from the MCRCB reads:
Following an interview with Tom Sykes and after considering the report of the senior marshal at the scene and TV broadcast evidence, the Judicial Clerk of the Course has determined that #66 Tom Sykes has breached the MCRCB regulations as follows:
Article B1.7 - Careless riding in the course of a meeting
Accordingly the following penalties have been imposed:
Exclusion from the first race result
A twelve position penalty for the starting grid of race two
The rights of appeal have been advised
