Silverstone BSB test: Broken ankle confirmed for Mackenzie

Tarran Mackenzie’s participation in the upcoming Bennetts British Superbike season opener is in jeopardy after a broken ankle was confirmed by medics.

The McAMS Yamaha man crashed heavily at Silverstone’s Woodcote yesterday and after a trip to the medical centre, he was taken to hospital for further checks.

A team statement reads:

“Following assessment at University College Hospital in Coventry, Tarran has been diagnosed with a fracture to the left ankle. He will see a specialist in Nottingam tommorrow for further consulation.”

It is a major blow for the youngest of the Mackenzie clan who has only just got over breaking his right leg in a winter testing crash at Cartagena and may also see his WorldSBK debut at Assen also cancelled.
