FS-3 Racing's Billy McConnell had his best result of the MCE British Superbike season so far, with a fourth place finish in race one at Snetterton.

The Australian racer is on Shane Byrne's 2015 Kawasaki ZX-10R and even watched video's of the multiple-champ go around the 300 track to prepare for this race weekend.

McConnell admitted that the solid points haul in race one has boosted his confidence and he was even closing in on Byrne for the third place finish. In race two he finished inside the points once again, but this time  in fourteenth behind Quattro Plant Kawasaki's Luke Mossey.

"Big credit to the team FS-3 Racing team and I have been struggling a bit with tyre wear all weekend  and my crew chief Matt said we are going to run with a zero [tyre]  and I was almost convinced to try a one [tyre compound] in race one," said McConnell, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit after race one.

"This morning I was a little bit hesitant about it but we made a change just before the start of the race and after warm up and we just tried to ride the bike a bit different. I was watching films of Shakey riding the bike last year and he gets it on the big bit of the tyre as we are on his old bike.

"We are really just trying to work on maintaining the tyre and I just started catching a few people and I started feeling like my old self on the 600's - feeling like I didn't have to think about it too much and it was coming and it was a really nice feeling.

"We are really happy that the team has got a good result and some good points and we clawed in Haslam, and Shakey was not too far away at the end. So it is a big confidence booster for me and it was good to show a little glimmer of some hope with the team."
