After a crash in qualifying on Saturday morning, Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasaki’s Rory Skinner has been declared unfit for the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Sprint race later this afternoon.
Skinner, already confirmed in the Showdown, crashed early in Q2 after being highsided from his ZX-10RR Kawasaki going down heavily on his head and shoulders. No concussion or broken bones were suffered but the decision was made to withdraw from the opening race as team boss Nigel Snook explained:
“It was quite a heavy spill this morning and although there was no concussion or broken bones, Rory’s got quite a stiff neck and has an ice pack on it at present. We didn’t think a podium credit was on offer today so it’s not worth the risk of competing and potentially aggravating things further.
“He did the hard work of confirming his place in the Showdown at Cadwell so he’ll get plenty of rest today and overnight, have some physio and then get full checked by the BSB medical team ahead of tomorrow’s two races.”
