Snetterton BSB: Crocked Iddon to miss double header

Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon has now been declared unfit and will not take part in the MCE British Superbike races this weekend at Snetterton.

The S1000RR rider was initially passed fit during a medical check up at the track this morning, but the decision has now been reversed.

Iddon is still carrying a nasty injury sustained during the last round at Knockhill. The Stockport lad suffered a big crash in the opening free practice session at the circuit and had to have an operation on a big open wound on his left arm.

The BMW man did pass the fit to ride test, but in his preparation for FP1 it was evident that his raw wound and skin graft was vulnerable. The team then took the decision after being advised about the risk to aggravating the injury in his leathers.

The medical team at BSB issued this statement: “After being declared fit, BSB Medical team supervised Christian Iddon’s final preparations for FP1 together and concluded with the team that it was evident that his recent deep wound and skin graft was particularly vulnerable to aggravation in racing leathers.

“Rather than an exploratory first session the team has taken the decision to give full support and track time to its fully fit riders and give best chance of a points haul to protect Christian’s champion position.”

Pirelli National Superstock 1000 rider Josh Elliott will replace Iddon at this round.
