Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne went under his own lap record, during the final timed MCE British Superbike free practice session at Snetterton.
The Panigale rider went four tenths quicker than his circuit record this morning, lapping a 1’47.365, and going P1 on the timesheets. RAF Reserves Kawasaki’s Jake Dixon improved on his pace from yesterday, so much so that he went second on the timing-screens.
The Knockhill double race victor set a 1’47.630 and out-paced, fellow youngster Luke Mossey in the process, with the current championship leader finishing inside the top three at the 300 track.
Anvil Hire TAG Yamaha’s Josh Brookes overcame yesterday’s blown engine problem and the outright lap record holder clocked a 1’48.206 to go fourth, with Smiths Racing’s Peter Hickman completing the top five. In the end only 0.05 seconds separated the pair out on the circuit.
Former World Superbike star, Jakub Smrz was also on the pace throughout FP3 and was at one point third quickest. At the flag he slipped to sixth, followed by Hopkins, O’Halloran, Linfoot and Bridewell.
Ex World Super’s champion, Sylvain Guintoli fell at Agostini but he continued. There was no damage to the Bennetts backed Suzuki and he finished just behind JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam on the sheets in twelfth.
Haslam at first experienced an electronic problem at the start of the session and initially came in after his first lap, but the team sorted out the issue and he went back out.
