JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam ended day one at Snetterton feeling confident and happy after leading the times in free practice two.
As the series returned from the six week break, Haslam picked up where he left off at Oulton back in May as he sailed to the fastest lap of the day.
Clocking a 1’46.674 on his final lap, he admitted he was almost surprised to find pace as quickly as he did.
“We’ve had a six week break from the BSB bike and I’ve had a hectic schedule with eight-hour Suzuka testing and World Superbike racing so it’s nice to get back on the BSB bike,” he told Bikesport News.
“We missed the last session here in the test so it was nice to just try a few things. I ended up fastest and that’s always nice, so far so good and we’ll keep plugging away.
“The 46’s last year were in qualifying, and qualifying and race times around here are massively different. But to be under my fastest lap of last year already, I’m really happy. And we’re under Shakey’s lap records from race one and race two, so we should be good for the weekend.”
