SNETTERTON BSB: I'M GUTTED BUT THAT'S RACING - ANDREWS

MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews' hopes of a debut British Superbike podium at Snetterton last weekend were wrecked by technical issues which saw the Evesham man having to settle for points finishes after being fastest through free practice.

Andrews was quickest for both session on Friday and it was only the unexpected rain shower during qualifying which prevented him front starting from the front row. The turning weather also caught out HM Plant Honda's Glen Richards and Hydrex Honda's Karl Harris.

Race one saw Andrews' rear tyre spin on the rim, making the bike difficult to ride and all of the rebound damping disappeared from his ZX-10R's forks in the second leg.

"I'm gutted to be honest but I suppose that's racing and it wasn't anything I was doing. I thought I had a puncture at the start of race one but the problem settled down," said Andrews this morning, speaking to bikesportnews.com from his wanking chariot.

"I don't really know what actually happened to the forks in race two but the bike didn't feel good and the front was pushing a lot so I just had to keep my head down. I smoked the whole field in free practice and thought we were on the podium easily.

"I am just concentrating on Donington Park at the weekend now and am looking forward to showing the world what the team can do."
