Samsung Honda’s Ryuichi Kiyonari continued his new-found good form and came away from the MCE British Superbike round at Snetterton with two top five finishes, and the rider is happy with his performances’ over the weekend.
In race one the former champ had to battle for his fifth place finish with Buildbase BMW’s James Westmoreland, with the more experienced rider coming out on top. Kiyonari did one better in race two and crossed the finishing line in fourth, which moves him up to fifth in the standings ahead of the next round at Brands Hatch. The rider was pleased with his lap’s times during the free practice sessions, but felt he did not have the pace to keep up with the top three riders when it came to race day.
“This weekend we have had some improvements again. I was happy before qualifying with tyre life and lap times but then something was different for race day which meant we were not as close to the first group. I thought we had things good but it changed and I am not sure why, maybe it was cooler than in the races, but I am happier and ready for the next round at Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit which is good for me,” said Kiyonari.
