Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill left it until his very last lap to grab top spot in the final British Superbike free practice session at Snetterton this morning, demoting James Westmoreland with the fastest lap of the weekend so far.
Hill went round in 1'48.591 which was only 0.022s better than the Motorpoint Yamaha man while John Hopkins, on the Samsung Suzuki, came out of his garage late on to set third fastest with a 1'48.705. Relentless Suzuki's Josh Brookes has found his form and sat in second with a 1'48.845 right until the end.
Michael Laverty took the second Swan bike to fifth fastest, just ahead of both of the HM Plant Hondas. Shane Byrne is sixth and nearly four tenths off the pace while Ryuichi Kiyonari is a tenth slower in seventh. Peter Hickman recovered from yesterday's crash to go eighth while Dan Linfoot has reversed yesterday's form and is ninth. Jon Kirkham rounds out the top ten.
WFR Honda's Graeme Gowland is leading Evo-spec rider in 12th with Simon Andrews second (17th) and Scott Smart's Moto Rapido Ducati one place behind in class and overall. MSS Kawasaki's Alex Lowes didn't set a time after crashing on his out lap at Murray's (Russell's).
