Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran set the quickest time in the second MCE British Superbike free practice session at Snetterton, but soon after he put down the fastest time of the day he crashed unhurt at Agostini’s and was able to ride back his Fireblade to the pits.
A 1’48.212 was more than good enough for the Australian to take the fastest rider accolade this afternoon, and was only 0.4s off lap record pace. Meanwhile a last lap dash certainly paid off for Moto Rapido Ducati’s Danny Buchan.
The Essex lad was only 0.1s slower than the Honda, with Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey lapping the third fastest time with a 1’48.463.
FP2 was in stark contrast to the damp and mixed conditions of the opening free practice session, and this afternoon it was dry, with the riders able to go out on slick tyres.
JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Peter Hickman and Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne ended the day well inside the top five, with Bridewell, Irwin, Parkes, Linfoot and Ellison completing the top ten.
Broc Parkes is fresh from coming off the plane from the Suzuka test and is standing in for the crocked John Hopkins. He clocked a respectable 1’48.715 to go P8 on the sheets, onboard the ePayMe Yamaha.
JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam only made his debut appearance at the 300 circuit during the official BSB tests a few weeks ago, and after spending the afternoon in and out of the garage he ended the session in eleventh, with the Tyco BMW pairing of Michael Laverty and Christian Iddon a tenth of a second behind the Derby-based rider.
