SNETTERTON BSB: POSITIVE RESULT FOR BROWN DESPITE ISSUES

Colin Appleyard/Macadam Racing’s Deane Brown suffered bike problems at Snetterton this weekend in the Relentless British 125GP, but still managed to finish just outside the top ten in 12th place.
Brown has only taken part in two races so far this season due to sustaining an injury after crashing at Paddock Hill at the first round of Brands Hatch, unfortunately after qualifying an impressive eighth.
Despite his short ‘Rubbish’ season, as he puts it, Brown currently sits 12th in the Cup championship with several of the places above all well within reach.  At Thruxton and Snetterton he qualified in the top fifteen and it was due to an error at Thruxton in which he ran off track causing him to finish what was to him, a disappointing 16th.
Not only does Brown return to the 125cc championship but also to the team and on a more positive note he said: “I like the team and the bike, we have a different engine with more power. I am aiming for top three in championship.”
Under the circumstances there is a lot of work to do, but it’s not impossible and racing’s is never predictable.  Even with the dismal start to his year he is already a mere five points off his season’s total from the Cup championship last year.
Brown’s determination speaks for itself when you look at his racing career.  It all started in 2004 when he took the Scottish Mini Bike 6.2hp and Junior 4.2hp class championship titles in addition to finishing second in the Mini Bike Championship Open Class.
A year later it was time for road racing starting on an Aprilia RS125, winning at Knockhill, which interestingly is also the next round of this year’s BSB championship.  There were a couple of more trophies in 2006 with him taking third in the ACU Star Cup and first in the Formula 125 class.
The next two years for the Motherwell rider was interrupted with injury, a broken femur in each season forced him to miss several rounds.  Despite this in 2007 he took seventh in the Red Bull Moto GP Rookies Cup and 14th a year later, whilst joining the British paddock with his current team Colin Appleyard/Macadam Racing.
Now back to start again Brown’s confidence looks to already be returning and as we approach the half way point of the season there are still a decent amount of races to take vital points away from his challengers.
Even though it has been an eventful and not necessarily pleasing season he is thrilled to be racing, Brown said: “I would like to give a big thanks to my team and sponsors JK Tyre & Autocentre, Tralee Bay Holiday’s, Digby Brown and Moto Direct for all their support.”
