Snetterton BSB: Race weekend statistics, facts and pub ammo

Race weekend stats, facts and pub ammunition for this weekend's Bennetts British Superbike round at Snetterton

Snetterton has held a BSB round every year since 1996; in that time, there have been 55 British Superbike Championship races held at the Norfolk venue.

Those 55 races have seen 25 different race winners and 38 different riders stand on the podium.

The Snetterton 300 circuit was first used for BSB in 2011. At 2.9689 miles, it is the longest track on the 2021 BSB calendar.

The current lap record is held by Shane Byrne (Ducati), who lapped at 1'47.143s in the second race of 2017.

Last year’s three races saw just three riders finish on the podium – Tarran Mackenzie, Jason O’Halloran and Tommy Bridewell.

Tommy Bridewell’s two podiums at Cadwell Park saw him move on to a career total of 65 and close to within three of the total recorded by former champion, the late Steve Hislop.

Bridewell will make his 350th BSB race start in the third race at Snetterton, becoming just the third rider to reach the landmark after Michael Rutter, Shane Byrne and Peter Hickman.

With wins last time out at Cadwell Park, both Bradley Ray and Danny Buchan now have a total of six career BSB wins.

Ray has now recorded 26 career BSB podiums, the same figure taken by Glenn Irwin and 2013 Champion Alex Lowes.

Danny Buchan’s hat-trick of podiums at Cadwell moved him on to a career total of 21, which matches the number taken by John Hopkins and Peter Hickman.

Three riders have now confirmed their place in the Showdown – Bradley Ray, Jason O’Halloran and Rory Skinner.

The remaining five places will be contested between eight riders – Lee Jackson, Glenn Irwin, Tommy Bridewell, Tarran Mackenzie, Kyle Ryde, Danny Buchan, Peter Hickman and Leon Haslam.

Out of those eight contenders, only Irwin, Bridewell, Mackenzie and Haslam have previously finished on the BSB podium at Snetterton.

Jason O’Halloran took his first ever BSB podium (2015) and first ever BSB victory (2016) at Snetterton.

Christian Iddon also claimed his first ever BSB win at the Snetterton circuit, victory coming in the first race in 2020.

Andrew Irwin made his BSB debut at Snetterton in 2018.

Josh Brookes is set to make his 325th BSB race start in the second race at Snetterton this weekend.

Bradley Ray will make his 150th BSB race start this weekend, also in the second race.

Shane Byrne is the most successful rider at Snetterton with 10 wins followed by Ryuichi Kiyonari (7), John Reynolds (5), Leon Camier and Josh Brookes (3) and James Whitham, Chris Walker, Sean Emmett, Leon Haslam, Scott Redding, Jason O’Halloran and Tarran Mackenzie (all 2).

Glenn Irwin took his first BSB victory for Honda at Snetterton, in 2020.

Josh Brookes (19) has recorded the most podiums at Snetterton followed by Shane Byrne (17), John Reynolds (12), Ryuichi Kiyonari, Chris Walker, Jason O’Halloran and Tommy Bridewell (all 8), Michael Rutter (7), Tommy Hill and Leon Haslam (both 6) and Niall Mackenzie, Steve Hislop and Michael Laverty (all 5).

Although Josh Brookes has taken 19 podiums at Snetterton, only three of those have been race wins, two coming in 2010 and another in 2020.

Ducati is the most successful manufacturer at Snetterton with 17 wins, followed by Honda and Yamaha (both 13), Kawasaki (7) and Suzuki (5).

Yamaha last won at Snetterton in 2021 with Tarran Mackenzie. Jason O’Halloran also won last year and they were Yamaha’s first wins at Snetterton since Tommy Hill in 2012.

Ducati’s last BSB win at Snetterton came in 2020 with Josh Brookes.

Honda’s last BSB win at Snetterton was also in 2020, with Glenn Irwin.

Kawasaki’s last win at Snetterton came in 2018 when Leon Haslam won both race races.

Suzuki’s last win came in 2011 with John Hopkins.
