VISK BRITISH SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP
Michael Rutter – Worx Suzuki (Q=20th, R1=7th, R2=DNF)
“I'm gutted. The bike is clearly capable of podiums, and wins, so to leave with what we have is a major disappointment. It was my own fault, the crash in the first race, I was simply having to push so hard to come through and I lost the front coming into Sears. I'm fortunate we got the restart and I'm reasonably happy to have made seventh.”
"After that I was very happy with the slightly revised set-up for the second race and was very comfortable pushing hard through those early laps, so to DNF on the fourth lap is frustrating. I'm sorry for the team. They're a great bunch of guys and have really made me feel at home these two last rounds, they deserved at least one podium as a reward this weekend and I just wish I could have given them that."
James Ellison – AIRWAVES YAMAHA (Q=2nd, R1=4th, R2=2nd)
“The first race was a bit of a nightmare. I got away well but it was really tough. All weekend I've been quick in the complex but I couldn't take advantage of it. Once the Honda's were in front, they slowed me down, particularly in that section.”
“I was pushing hard to get on the podium but made a few mistakes in the final couple of laps. There was nothing I could do. The second race was the best yet. I got a good start and felt that I could push Leon a lot more. In between races Colin sat me down and we analysed what went wrong in race one. It helped massively so thank you to him.”
Leon Camier – AIRWAVES YAMAHA (Q=1st, R1=1st, R2-1st)
"The first race was one of the hardest, but also one of the most fun races I can remember. My start wasn't too bad for a change but I fell back at the first corner. It was so difficult to overtake because we really struggled on the straights.”
“Thankfully the Airwaves Yamaha worked fantastic around the corners. In race two the bike felt awesome. It was fun racing so close to James and I'm pleased we achieved another one-two for the Airwaves Yamaha team. I want to say thank you to all the GSE Racing guys and girls for all their hard work.”
Graeme Gowland – Motorpoint Henderson’s Yamaha (Q=15th, R1=12th, R2=13th)
“I wanted to break into the top ten this weekend but we knew we may be down on a little top speed and it really made it hard to pass, in the end I think we all pushed too hard on the front tyres to try and make up for that.”
“All in all I am really happy I feel fit again and the bike is letting me ride with a lot more confidence, I can run the top race pace but need to sharpen up on my starts and early laps, I want to get back on my bike tomorrow I am feeling much more confident and want to race more!”
Peter Hickman – Ultimate Racing (Q=18th Cup=3rd, R1=17th Cup=2nd, R2=15th Cup=2nd)
“In the first race I got a little bit beat up on the first lap but nothing major, it is about time I got through the first lap without being run off onto the grass. Then we had the stoppage and at the restart I got away really well, the first lap went ok and I just built from there. Gary Mason’s engine had a misfire and I nearly rammed the back of him so that cost me some time and allowed Tommy Bridewell to catch and pass me.”
“In race two, again I started really well and got into a rhythm but then let Tristian Palmer past which was a bit of a wrong decision as he kept holding me up for the first few laps. But once I got past him again I was around three seconds behind Jon Kirkham and Gary Mason and it took me all of the race to catch them back up.”
“I eventually got there with two laps to go but because they were fighting between the two of them I couldn’t find a way past. But it was close as Gary jumped the chicane on the last lap and I nearly highsided myself so he still beat me to the line. We have closed the gap on him this weekend as he didn’t finish the first race so that’s good for us.”
Tom Tunstall – Hardinge Doodson Motorsport (Q=19th Cup=4th, R1=DNF, R2=18th Cup=3rd)
“To be honest I was scratching my head after the practice sessions to understand what we needed to do to improve the bike, but we got our heads together and went for a different setting in qualifying. It worked really well and once I got a feel for it my lap times improved.”
“It's incredibly frustrating, I’d got a good start and felt really dialled in, it went in a big way and fortunately the marshals got to it quickly as it had caught fire. It was a victory just getting out there. Once again the guys proved it’s a team sport. I felt really good on the bike and although I had to work my way through, my times were similar to the winner [Gary Mason].
FUCHS-SILKOLENE BRITISH SUPERSPORT CHAMPIONSIP
Billy McConnell – MAP Raceways Yamaha (Q=1st, R=DNF)
“I felt good and everyone has worked so hard. I had a clutch problem but it is something that we can fix this week. We are pushing these bikes to their limits and as my MAP Raceways Yamaha is so fast occasionally something has to go. I’m looking at all the positives, I was on pole, I got the hole-shot and I was leading. It wasn’t a crash so I feel confident I can come back strong at Knockhill. I have 25 points to chase down so I can’t wait to get to Knockhill.”
Allan Jon Venter – MAP Raceways Yamaha (Q=17th, R=10th)
“That was better, I got a good start and got away well but, unfortunately, Paul Young had a bit moment which ran me wide at the Bombhole. My MAP Raceways Yamaha has worked well all weekend so finishing in the top ten shows how promising it is. I now want top eight when we go to Knockhill. I’ve got no complaints, K-Tech has helped us out with suspension this weekend and my team is really good, no-one ever gives up on you. It is a real shame for Billy but I know he will come back strong.”
Daniel Cooper – Centurion Racing (Q=5th, R=2nd)
"I'm so pleased to get this result and to get it in the dry conditions, as I was starting to get a reputation as a wet weather rider and wanted to prove that I could do it in good conditions also. The Centurion team have once again been fantastic all weekend and done a great job in putting my bike together and it's felt good all weekend.”
“I'm now lying in third place in the Championship, which is a great confidence boost for when I go to Knockhill in a couple of week’s time and great for the team. I would like to wish my mate Linny a speedy recovery after he broke his foot in first qualifying and hope he's back on it soon."
Tom Grant – Centurion Racing (Q=3rd, R=25th)
"I'm really gutted to have crashed out of the race as all weekend the bike was feeling so good and everything was working well. We qualified well and I knew I could set consistent race times to be able to stay with the leaders. It just wasn't to be and after Chris crashed I had to play catch up and I was pushing really hard as I could see the leading pack making a break.”
“I just ran a bit wide and boom that was me down. I've hurt my arm a bit but will be fully fit and racing again at Knockhill, I just hope my luck will change there. Thanks again to all the Centurion guys for doing such a top job. I'd also like to wish Linny a fast recovery and hope he's back out on the track with us as soon as he's ready."

David Hallett – Team Co-Ordit (Q=21st, R=DNF)
“After some engine problems earlier in the weekend we made real progress to qualify in
the top 20. In the race we were in a strong position to score points. I had a pretty big highside coming out of the last corner and hurt my left ankle and hip but nothing too bad. I’m looking forward to putting it right at Knockhill.”
Hudson Kennaugh – Linxcel-Seton Tuning (Q=12th, R=4th)
"I didn't get too good a start but within two laps I had made my way up to 8th. By lap seven I'd caught Tom Grant and James Webb and managed to pass them for fourth position. The the Linxcel-Seton Tuning bike was running so well and I quickly managed to bridge the 2.5s gap between me and Dan Cooper and James Westmoreland who were both fighting for second place."
“It was rotten luck for us that we didn't get the chance to finish the full twenty laps. I was feeling really comfortable and the tyres were just coming into their own. Still, fourth place is great for us and it's a real positive to take into the British round of the World Supersport Championship at Donington Park next weekend."
METZELER NATIONAL SUPERSTOCK 600
Johnny Blackshaw – Team Haribo Starmix (Q=28th, R=18th)
“I got a good drive off from the start line, but I admit to having felt nervous into the first corner. I then got my head down, and posted some good consistent lap times. I was now up to 18th from 28th but with just three laps to go.”
“With the 17th rider some three seconds ahead, I couldn’t foresee my getting into the points ie. not without taking crazy risks. I also had a three second gap behind me. So I kept my gap and brought the bike home safely. No crashes this weekend, and my fractured arm/shoulder is still in its right place.”
Jack Groves – Team Haribo Starmix (Q=16th, R=23rd)
“My aim was to get a good start and focus on getting a strong drive onto the long back-straight on lap one. And I did it. I managed to pass six riders, and moved up to 10th in that first lap. But the pack was bunched-up into Russell's and there I made my one forced error; I went down an extra gear; one too many. Even a slipper clutch couldn’t cope with that shock; my only option was to run off line and onto the grass.”
“By the time I got back onto the tarmac I was now down in around 27th place. I tried so hard to win-back places. But I was stuck within a group, and by the time I passed them the next group was already too far away. I finished in 23rd place. I was not the happiest, but I’d tried hard and learned a lot from that race. I am so looking forward to Knockhill in a two weeks’ time. It’s great to be part of a two-man team. Johnny and I will show you all very soon that we’re amongst the best. Thanks to all who helped us this weekend; it was great fun. And it’s great to be part of a really happy and positive team.”
James East – (Q=6th, R=13th)
“Qualifying was tricky as I was on my Qualifying two tyres from Donington Park which were realistically past their best but I still managed to Qualify in sixth place on the grid just 0.6 down from pole. In the race my start was good but I got blocked out on the run into Sears the 2nd corner and nearly got put on the grass, I finished the 1st lap in tenth but I was clear of the usual 1st lap crazyness.”
“Flying down revits straight on lap 2 I went to down shift and the gearbox locked into a fake neutral and wouldnt budge forcing me to run straight on into the slip road, re-joining after I'd stamped the gearbox back into gear in 25th place. I pushed so hard and finally got up to 13th place and set the second fastest lap of the race which again proves I can run the pace, I could just do with some luck I recon.”
Luke Jones – MAP Raceways Yamaha (Q=2nd, R=1st)
It was a good race but my times were a bit off as the wind had changed direction. I could have done with a bigger sprocket in the rear but I put up with it and felt confident for the win. I knew I could keep Hamilton at bay but he put a do-or-die move on me and put us both wide. He could have taken us both down. I’m very happy with the team and the whole weekend went really well… apart from the last corner!”
Nikki Coates – MAP Raceways Yamaha (Q=8th, R=4th)
“I got a good start and was fifth or sixth but I got pushed wide and lost a few places putting me back to about tenth. I caught up only to have it happen again. I got my head down and at one point I had the fastest lap of the race. I know if I had a few more laps I could have caught the front runners so I’m a little bit gutted. We have a double header at Knockhill, my bike is really good and the team is mega so I can’t wait.”
Mike McClean – MAP Raceways Yamaha (Q=25th, R=22nd)
“It was fun and I made up a few places. It was a good race but I need to qualify better so I can get to the front. I don’t know Knockhill very well but I know I need to improve in qualifying and see how we go from there.”
Nick Clark – Linxcel-Xeton Tuning (Q=10th, R=7th)
"The Linxcel-Seton Tuning bike was working great all weekend. The base setting was really good and we pretty much left the the bike alone all weekend.
"The race was great for me and I managed to get a good start and finished in seventh. The bikes are so equal out there so all you can do is sit in each other's tow so to get the lap record, for me, has to be one of the highlights of my racing career so far."
METZELER NATIONAL SUPERSTOCK 1000
Conor Cummins – Team Blackhorse Yamaha (Q=9th, R=10th)
"Having been at the TT for a fortnight, it's been good to come back to the short circuits and be on the pace straightaway although I am a little disappointed not to have finished a bit higher. Qualifying went well and I was confident of finishing in the top eight but I was losing out a little on top speed and with two long straights here at Snetterton, it proved to be our un-doing. I was all over the other riders in the corners but they were able to gap me a little bit on the straights so it was a little frustrating.”
”Nevertheless, it was another top ten finish and we've now proved that we can run inside the top ten, week in week out. The results at the TT have definitely boosted my confidence and I want to really get stuck into these Superstock rounds now and get myself up into the top six. The team are working brilliantly so I'll keep giving it 100% and ride as hard as possible to get the results I feel we deserve and are capable of.”
Richard Cooper – Team Co-Ordit Yamaha (Q=3rd, R=3rd)
“That was a great race for the Co-ordit Yamaha team. To have a TT winner breathing
down your neck was big pressure when you’re a young lad like myself! I learnt a lot from McGuinness during the race, he made a few passes and I worked out where he was weak and managed to make a pass on him on the last lap that paid dividends and I dragged it to the line for the podium finish.
“We’ve been third all weekend behind Seeley and Brogan, who were really on it in the race, so it was great for Team Co-ordit to come out on the podium at the flag. I’d like to dedicate this to my father as I forgot to get him a Father’s Day card! This was a mega achievement by the whole team and sets us up nicely for the championship and the next round.”
RELENTLESS BRITISH 125GP CHAMPIONSHIP
Brian Clark – Banks Racing/Express Racewear (Q=5th, R=6th)
“Now that wasn’t what I was hoping for, the first turn error has cost me dearly and I knew that I would get caught up in a slipstream battle. It’s true we only gave one point away to the Championship lead but we’ve dropped to fifth overall with the KRP boys at the front today. This was always an uphill battle and I must be grateful to be as close to them at such a circuit, Knockhill is next and at least there’s a little more riding required there!”
KTM RC8 SUPER CUP
Ritchie Thornton – TA Creative Ltd/P&H Motorcycles (Q=12th, R1=12th, R2=DNF)
“I spent most of the evening and morning before qualifying with my foot in ice to get the swelling down and was pronounced fit to race by the doctor on Saturday. Unable to squeeze into my usual race boot I had to use a slightly larger sized boot on my left foot.
I had a few problems changing gear but after a while started to adjust to it and was very pleased to qualify on the third row. I felt that despite the injury during practice, I was starting to pick up the pace again”
“I was going well at the start, I was up to 7th with the top riders at he start, but started to lose touch as the others seemed to cope better with the drying conditions on wet tyres than I did. Then, with two laps to go the heavens opened and I just got faster again and over took two riders who had passed me earlier. I just needed another couple of laps in the rain and I would have been back up there again”
“When I crashed in the second race it was the worst possible place for this to happen. I was braking and changing down from about 160 mph into the fast left hander under the bridge and suddenly I had no engine breaking as the bike just jumped out of gear. I tried to do it all on the brakes but the bike wouldn’t have it and the next thing I knew I was off. I’m pretty upset about how the weekend ended breaking my collar bone, it was going well to start with. The high side on Friday was down to me but when the bike has put me in this position it is particularly upsetting”
