SNETTERTON BSB: THOMPSON MOVES TO JUNIOR SUPERSTOCK

Colin Appleyard/Macadam Racing’s Jordan Thompson continued with his debuting year in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 championship at Snetterton this weekend after taking the leap from two stroke machines.
Thompson rode for the team last year in the British 125GP championship and got his first taste of the four cylinder at the end of 2008 when he competed in the last two rounds of the Spanish Championship in which he successfully qualified for both.
The team also managed to fit in some testing at Cartagena before returning back to the British scene which even with a crash was successful.  Talking about his progress so far Thompson said: “I am doing alright, the 600cc suits me because I too big for the 125cc now.  At Brands Hatch I struggled with setup which was frustrating, I qualified 15th and was 19th in the race, I was annoyed.”
“At Oulton I was strong, I was fourth then dropped to sixth and on the last lap I was third.  I was almost tasting the champagne, but then I was taken out.  Donington Park is a circuit I like, in qualifying I shaved a gear so I just went backwards, but I got a decent start from 12th to finish 9th in the race so I was pleased with that.”
“At Thruxton last year I broke down, every time something happens at that track.  I was struggling with setup qualified 15th, I was really annoyed.  In the race Stapleford came off on the grid so I had to literally stop the bike to avoid him so then I was 18th.  I worked my way up to finish 15th.”
At Snetterton Thompson continued his string of constant top 15 qualifiers which has included a front row fourth place at Oulton.  He looked to be strong for the race, but due to having a bad start that was hard to recover from he just missed out on the points to finish 16th.
Even though the results aren’t as desired Thompson has improved and battled through the never ended tests of racing to prove that he has adapted to and can ride the bigger beasts.  Currently he sits joint 17th in the overall standings with four other riders on 11 points.
Thompson said: “I like the 600cc, I am enjoying it and I would like to thank the team, Matthew and Taryn Sanders, Depoel Consulting and Doodson Insurance for all their support.”
