Padgett's Honda are working hard behind the scenes to ensure they are back on the grid for the start of this season’s MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship.
The Batley-based motorcycle dealership tasted maiden victory in the series last term at Thruxton as Ian Lowry took a stylish win but despite hitting the headlines then, they have not been able to secure any backing for their team.
Currently they have their race bikes well prepared, the team transporter being serviced and re-painted and team personnel all ready to go. But, they need to find a major concern who wishes “to work with us to promote their own brand and products.”
Padgett's finance their own racing effort, throughout they are enthusiasts with a terrific track record, but it is tough for them to take on manufacturer teams.
Having tasted success in BSB, there is no way back for them to anything less. They want to put things in place to be challenging for race victories in the country’s premier series and they know that there are riders available to ride for them who are capable of getting those results.
The aim of Clive Padgett and his crew is to make the start of the BSB season at Brands Hatch with a front-line team and they know that they can deliver the goods for any company wishing to be associated with them in terms of sponsorship backing.
Any company interested need only look at Padgetts record in all racing and on the Isle of Man TT where they have a string of victories to their credit among them the incredible record of five wins in a week set by Ian Hutchinson.
They will be in action on the Mountain Course again in June with John McGuinness, the 19 times TT race winner leading their challenge and lining up alongside him will Bruce Anstey, nine times a TT race winner.
