Storm Stacey will remain with GR Motorsport for a second season in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship for 2021 after signing a new deal.

Stacey progressed from the Superstock 600 class directly into Bennetts BSB this year, but the young pretender instantly impressed and delivered some mature performances during his first campaign on the Superbike to score championship points in his rookie season.

The Staffordshire-based teenager claimed his first point of the season at Silverstone, before scoring a best result of 13th place at the penultimate round of the championship at Donington Park and now is eager to build on those performances in 2021.

“I feel like this year went really well for me and I scored points on more than one occasion, which was the aim for my first season in BSB,” said Stacey.

“I think the highlight was at Donington Park where during the race I was running in the top ten, although I did fall back a bit towards the end of the race, I was racing against some big names, and also beat some of them this year so that felt good.

I have learnt a lot this year; especially that one of the things with the Superbike is that the slower you think you go the faster you actually are; it is weird. It’s basically the more you chill out, the faster you go – if you are almost asleep you are fast and do better.

“One thing I have found is that in qualifying, you need a good position; it is so hard to get through the pack in this class, and so that is also something to work on for next season.

“In 2021 I want to learn more and keep finding my feet in this championship, because I only did it in the races last year as we didn’t really do a lot of testing.

“Again, next season will be another year of testing, finding out what works for me, how we want the bike set-up and I would like to be pushing for the top ten or even maybe a bit better! But I would be happy with top ten finishes and see what happens.”
