Luke Stapleford will make a return to the British Superbike Championship (BSB) at this weekend’s second round of 2023 at Oulton Park after being called up to replace the injured Ryan Vickers at LAMI OMG Yamaha.
Vickers underwent surgery on his wrist in the wake of the Silverstone opener and while the 2022 BSB title-winning team were hopeful of him returning for this weekend’s Cheshire event, he has opted to remain out of action.
In his place comes Stapleford, who will step up from the British Supersport Championship - where he is currently competing with the Profile Racing team and was a title winner in 2015 - to ride the Yamaha R1 alongside Kyle Ryde this weekend.
He has already completed his first laps for the team after replacing Vickers at the recent Oulton Park BSB test.
Stapleford has made a number of BSB starts with Buildbase Suzuki in recent years.
