SUCCESSFUL SURGERY FOR ANDREWS IN BELGIUM

MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews has undergone successful surgery in Brussels to fix his broken scaphoid bone and is now at home in Worchestershire resting.

Andrews, who was cruelly robbed his debut win at Mallory Park last weekend, drove to Belgium after Ryan Thorpe, son of legendary motocrosser Dave, recommended a hospital to carry out the operation.

"I have a permanent screw in my thumb which is keeping the scaphoid a lot closer to flowing blood and hopefully it will start knitting," said Andrews, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.

"Now I have a couple of weeks to completly rest my hand and we should be in good shape for Brands Hatch. I am defintely in with a shout of a podium now, which will be a great reward for the team's hard graft."
