The new BSB Breakthrough Award will honour Keith Farmer

British Superbikes

Keith Farmer's memory will be honoured by the new BSB Breakthrough Award.

A new BSB Breakthrough Award will be presented at the Adelaide Irish Motorbike Awards in Belfast to honour the late Keith Farmer. The award will be given to a rider from Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland in Farmer's memory.

Farmer was a four-time British Champion across Superstock and Supersport and became a popular figure in the British Superbike paddock. He tragically passed away in November 2022 at the age of 35.

Farmer's first title success came in 2011 in the National Superstock 600 Championship, after he won his first title as a privateer he joined PBM and progressed into the Superstock 1000 class. It was in 2012 that he won his second consecutive title.

PBM promoted Farmer into British Superbikes in 2013 after he won the Superstock 1000 class. Farmer spent the 2014 season in the Superbike class where he claimed his only BSB podium with the PR Racing team.

It was later in 2017 and 2018 that Farmer found more title success in the British Supersport class and National Superstock Championship. In 2017 Farmer won the British Supersport Championship with the Appleyard/Macadam team, claiming his third title across three different classes. He then celebrated Superstock title glory in 2018 with the Tyco BMW team.

The first recipient of the new BSB Breakthrough Award will be the Irish rider who made the biggest impact over the 2024 season. The award will be presented next week at the Adelaide Irish Motorbike Awards.
