Thruxton BSB: Brookes 'will do better' in second race

Tyco Suzuki rider Josh Brookes has already made it on to the podium once today, and vows to do even better in the MCE British Superbike race two.

The Aussie rider came across the line in second place in race one, after a last lap battle with current champ Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider Shane Byrne. Brookes did manage to lead the British Superbike race for a short time, but was eventually overtaken by Byrne on the last corner of the Thruxton circuit. He will now start the final BSB race of the day on the second row.

But even though first spot on the podium did elude the rider, he still enjoyed his time out on the track earlier this afternoon.

“It was a great and fun race and I am really happy with it, and on the last lap I was out in front for a bit. It was good to have a proper scrap for the lead with Shakey, and it was really fun.

“We will work on the bike before race two, and I think we will be a bit better in the second race today, so I am looking forward to it,” said Brookes.
