THRUXTON BSB: CAMIER BLITZES SECOND PRACTICE

Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier has decimated the British Superbike field in second free practice at Thruxton this afternoon, lapping a full second quicker than next-placed man Stuart Easton.

Camier put in a 1'15.306 second circuit with 15 minutes of the session remaining which made Easton's 1'16.335, set just five minutes before, look positively pedestrian and the young Scot had no reply.

The second Yamaha of James Ellison found pace right at the end of the 50 minutes, hopping from seventh to third with his very last lap, posting a 1'16.353 which was enough to demote the hard-charging Simon Andrews to fourth.

Andrews didn't come out onto track for the first half an hour but rocketed up the timesheets, setting a 1'16.368 to go third until Ellison's last-ditch lap in the final minute. He experienced an problem with the electronics on his favoured bike so had to use his number two ZX-10R.

Easton's team-mate Karl Harris, who was quickest this morning, crashed at Seagrave corner right at the start of the session after posting his fastest time of 1'16.521 which was just enough to keep Relentless Suzuki's Ian Lowry in sixth. HM Plant Honda's Glen Richards finished in seventh place, just in front of Michael Rutter on the Worx Suzuki.
