Thruxton BSB: ‘Good to be on the podium’ - Ellison

Milwaukee Yamaha rider James Ellison made it on to the final step of the podium in the final MCE British Superbike race of the day at Thruxton. It wasn't a great weekend for the Cumbrian rider would rather forget as issues in the free practice sessions hampered his progress.

Things were made worse for Ellison as qualifying was cancelled on Saturday because of torrential rain, meaning he had to start race one, seventeenth on the grid with not a lot of dry track time. Race two was much better and he managed to start on the front row. But the Englishman found the whole weekend quite tough.

“It is good to be on the podium, and it is a tough circuit and we have to ride to the limit at all times at Thruxton. But today was a tough one, but we put ion a good show,” said Ellison.

“I can not wait to go to Oulton Park now as it is a good circuit. We were not too happy about how we performed in the practice sessions, but we did manage to pull through it on race day, and I am happy.”
