Thruxton BSB: Jackson stays top as rain halts progress

FS-3 Kawasaki’s Lee Jackson remained on top of the Thruxton Bennetts British Superbike timesheets and leads the way into qualifying two as rain prevented any meaningful improvements this afternoon.

Jackson’s 1’17.213 - set in the dry part of FP1 - remains the benchmark with Christian Iddon and Jason O’Halloran in second and third, half a second back. Laptimes, for the handful who went out, were ten seconds slower than this morning.

The weather means that reigning champion Josh Brookes has been unable to continue with the setup discovery his team made at Brands last Sunday and he will go into Q1 after only mustering 19th place this morning.

Second practice was halted due to standing water but FP3 will be extended tomorrow morning.

Local contender Tommy Bridewell remained fifth fastest as rain fell again in the afternoon, hampering any chance of moving up the order ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying and Race 1.

Andrew Irwin was the fastest of the SYNETIQ BMWs in sixth place as he edged ahead of Rory Skinner and Danny Kent with the Buildbase Suzuki team returning to the top eight.

Bradley Ray and Peter Hickman completed the top ten with Danny Buchan and Dan Linfoot the final two riders to be in the SUPERPICKS 12, who will automatically progress to Q2 tomorrow.
