Thruxton BSB: Top-end tweaks for Ellison

Anvil TAG's James Ellison is hoping that some tweaks by his team should bring the top speed he will need for this weekend's Thruxton Bennetts British Superbike round.

The Kendal native, who will race at the Hampshire track for the last time, doesn't have a great relationship with the circuit which has broken his wrist and leg in the past but Ellison will have to be at the sharp end if he is to have any chance of a Showdown spot in his swanaong season.

"I’m looking forward to this weekend, Thruxton is a great circuit and I don’t know of any rider that dislikes the track. We were lacking a little bit of speed at Brands Hatch, so the team have made a few little tweaks for this weekend. It hasn’t been an issue all year, but at the last round we were losing out in certain areas," said Ellison.

“Thruxton is an awesome track, it’s just so fast. The track has had its rough points for me personally, I’ve broken my wrist there and my femur, but I’ve got happy memories from 2013 and 2009 taking to the podium, but it’s such a fun place to ride. It’s fast, flowing and very technical, because it’s so wide there are lots of different lines you can take, and you have to know your way around the track.

“I’m pushing to be back on the podium again, we haven’t had one since round one and we are still looking for the setting to improve my feeling on the bike, but I know we aren’t far away.”
