Most teams are happy with the cheques sent by their big sponsors. But Tommy Hill’s ePayMe BSB team has ended up moving in with one of theirs! And the sponsor – KGN Pillinger – even helps the team out by making them bespoke pit and workshop equipment.
KGN is a major manufacturer of water pumps, filtration and pipes – they’re the sort of folk who make sure the showers in a hospital or 200-room hotel all have enough hot water pressure at 7.30am. The Croydon-based outfit designs and builds mega-sized installations for factories, offices, shopping malls, schools, and loads of other big building projects.
But the firm’s bosses really love bike racing. So much so, that they’re a major sponsor of various race teams, including Tommy Hill’s two-bike superbike effort.
KGN’s got an impressive CAD design and manufacturing facility, which it’s turned into a bespoke workshop kit factory. They firm builds specialist bike stands, workbenches, wheel stands, tyre warmer racks, drum stands and grid starter trolleys – all from top-grade stainless steel. Stainless is the firm’s specialist subject of course – they have to use the rust-proof material for all their water installs. So Tommy gets lots of shiny, tough kit, that never needs polishing or painting.
KGN also had some spare space in their huge factory – so they’ve built Tommy a neat little workshop. Handy for the M25, it’s also got loads of space for vans and trucks.
KGN bosses are also looking to expand their workshop production setup. They’re able to produce bespoke or off-the shelf bike workbenches, wheel stands, grid starting trolleys, and much more. Give them a shout and they’ll be able to help out.
