Samsung Honda's Alex Lowes is gearing up for this weekend's Brands Hatch MCE British Superbike double header and believes home-town hero Shane Byrne can be beaten in his own back yard.
The Derbyshire rider sits second in the championship points table and knows that Byrne is a red hot favourite to win both races on his home track, but Lowes beat the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki man at Snetterton and wants to do it again.
“I’m looking forward to Brands Hatch, a circuit that I like a lot despite my crashes there last October – let’s hope that they are out of the way now. I am hoping to be back with a bit more speed and to be on the podium, that is the main thing now, staying consistent, pushing hard and scoring points," said Lowes.
"The man to beat is Byrne – he is the favourite as it is his home round and he has a winning record there. To beat him here would be a great result but we proved at Snetterton that we can beat him.”
