Yorkshire's Grant Whitaker, who rides in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 series, is aiming high for the 2012 season and hopes to get a consistent run of top-five places going during his third year in the series.
Whitaker last year finished the season off in a very high & low way as he was running in a top fiveposition at the final round at Brands Hatch but unfortunately fell on a patch with a number of other riders. Having said this he still finished the 2011 season in 12th position having not been able to attend two of the championship rounds throughout the year. His best result of the year was a fourth place at Croft, only fractions off the podium.
“This year it is my aim to run top five at every round and to be regularly fighting for a podium position as I believe I have the ability to do so. The National Superstock 600 class is a very tough and with the great knowledge and help behind me so far from my team I have, then everything should fall into place as long as we secure the funds needed. I am training hard as every to be ready to the season as I really want to progress through the classes in forthcoming years,” said Whitaker.
To try and secure backing for his season, Whitaker has setup a small club called the 79 club. This is designed to help fund the team’s budget. Grant is looking for 79 people to put £79 towards the, in return they will get put into a draw at each round to win two tickets to the next British Superbike event (excludes Assen) where they can meet the team, see how the bike is prepared, have a cuppa tea and chin wag.
