2026 MotoGP Hungarian Grand Prix Results, Sunday: Warm Up

Gold and Goose

Results from the race at the 2026 MotoGP Hungarian Grand Prix at the Balaton Park circuit.

Marc Marquez won a chaotic MotoGP race at Balaton Park, beating Pedro Acosta by 1.3 seconds.

The race was characterised by a major crash at turn one as Jorge Martin lost control in braking and collected Marco Bezzecchi, Raul Fernandez, Fermin Aldeguer, and Fabio Di Giannantonio. There was no red flag, and all rider bar Di Giannantonio were out on the spot. Di Giannantonio remounted and finished 12th.

Marquez and Acosta were immediately given an advantage over the rest of the field as a result of the carnage behind them at turn one. Acosta had chosen the soft-compound rear tyre where Marquez took the medium, so the KTM rider had the pace advantage early on and was able to take the lead on lap three.

By half-distance, Marquez was ready to reclaim it, and although it took several attempts he was able to get back to the front by the end of lap 14. From there, he had no problems extending his lead out to over two seconds, just rolling off at the end to allow it to reduce back to 1.3 seconds.

Acosta's second place makes him the rider with the most MotoGP podiums without a win - 13 now.

Francesco Bagnaia was the major winner from the turn one crash, getting up to third on lap one. But he had no answer to the pace of the riders ahead of him and finished third, but 11 seconds off the pace.

Ai Ogura was the only Aprilia left in the race after turn one, and cut through the pack from the back end of the top-10 to finish fourth in the end, passing Luca Marini in the closing stages. Marini's fifth place is his best finish with HRC.

Diogo Moreira was sixth, ahead of Alex Marquez's replacement Iker Lecuona, Jack Miller, Enea Bastianini, and Brad Binder who completed the top-10.
