David Alonso carried his momentum through from his maiden victory last time out in the UK as he headed up the timesheets on the opening day of action for Roundf 10 of the 2023 Moto3 World championship in Austria.

The Colombian produced a mighty performance at Silverstone to claw his way back from the rear of the field to win his first Moto3 race, in so doing becoming the first rider from Colombia to triumph at grand prix level.

It was a high he continued to demonstrate in Spielberg as he shook out up top come the end of Friday's second Practice session by a sizeable +0.6s margin.
