Catalunya Moto3, Friday Practice | Colin Veijer times it well, Ogden misses out

Colin Veijer maintained his strong form from Austria to go quickest in third and practice for the Catalunya Moto3 to top the timesheets from Jaume Masia.

Veijer was one of only a handful of riders to post a notable improvement over their Friday best as ill-timed yellow flags served to spoil a number of fast laps in the closing stages.

The Dutchman’s quickest lap came in the final minutes as a swarm of riders jostled - unsuccessfully - to find a slipstream, Veijer topping the table comfortably from Jaume Masia, while Stefano Nepa, fresh from signing a new deal the Angeluss MTA Team for 2024, made good gains into third.

Rookie Jose Antonio Rueda held down fourth, while Ayumu Sasaki joined Veijer in making it a positive day for the Dynavolt IntactGP Husqvarna team by leaping up into fifth place.

Of the other title contenders, series leader Daniel Holgado has work to do after being dumped into Q1 with the 15th fastest time, but Deniz Oncu scraped through in tenth despite a crash at Turn 5.

Among the British contingent, Scott Ogden failed to improve on his best from Friday and will therefore go in Q1 from 18th, while Joshua Whatley is 28th
