Jaume Masia once again found himself atop the timesheets following Friday’s two Practice sessions ahead of the Catalunya Moto3, Round 11 of the 2023 Moto3 World Championship.

The Leopard Racing Honda rider could rely on his benchmark from Practice 1 in the morning to see out the day as the rider to beat ahead of Saturday’s qualifying session.

He holds a healthy advantage overnight with his 1m 48.300s lap time giving him a +0.402s margin over second place man Ivan Ortola, who leapfrogged to second after setting his best time in the afternoon session aboard the Angeluss MTA Team KTM.

Fresh from his maiden Moto3 pole position in Austria, Colin Veijer once impressed en route to third, the Dutchman faring better than his more experienced Dynavolt IntactGP Husqvarna team-mate Ayumu Sasaki, who sits on the bubble of the automatic Q2 qualifiers in 14th after a crash.

Austrian Moto3 winner Deniz Oncu was seven tenths off the ultimate pace but fourth all the same, ahead of Matteo Bertelle on the Rivacold Snipers Honda, followed by Tatsuki Suzuki and Riccardo Rossi, with David Alonso completing the top eight.

Championship leader Daniel Holgado ends his Friday in ninth position on the Red Bull KTM Tech3 machine, just ahead of fellow KTM rider and rookie Jose Antonio Rueda, who rounds out the top ten.

Among the British contingent, Scott Ogden finds himself in 15th, just outside the 14 spots available in tomorrow’s P3 to progress directly into Q2, with Joshua Whatley ending his day in 26th.
