David Alonso underlined his status as the 2024 Moto3 World Championship title favourite as he dominated proceedings during a two-day pre-season test at Portimao.
The Colombian racer, who won four races in his rookie campaign last year, was in imperious form around the Portuguese venue as the only rider to break into the 1m 46secs bracket across eight short sessions.
Indeed, Alonso - debuting his Aspar Team's new CFMoto-branded colours at the test - achieved the feat twice by some margin, his eventual benchmark of 1m 46.690secs in the final timed session some 0.9s faster than his closest rival in second place.
That rival was fellow sophomore Moto3 racer Collin Veijer, who consolidated his own title contender credentials by slotting into second fastest on the Husqvarna Intact GP machine, while Daniel Holgado - who led the standings for large portions of the 2023 Moto3 season - was third quickest overall despite skipping the generally faster final session of the test.
In fourth, Scott Ogden made impressive late gains having run outside the top ten for much of the test.
Competing under the MLav Racing banner, the British rider was less than a tenth shy of Veijer second place time as he bids to mount a more consistent front-running challenge in what will be his third season of Moto3.
Ivan Ortola completed the top five on the MT Helmets-MSI KTM, ahead of top Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Jose Antonio Rueda in sixth and new Husqvarna Intact GP signing Tatsuki Suzuki.
His fellow Japanese Ryusei Yamanaka - now with MT Helmets - MSI - followed in eighth, ahead of BOE's Joel Kelso and Filippo Farioli on the best of the SIC 58 Squadra Corse bikes.
Fastest for defending champions Leopard Racing was Angel Piqueras, the Spaniard also emerging as the fastest of the rookies on test.
Ogden's MLav Racing team-mate Joshua Whatley ended the test in 20th place.
