Ducati believes that Aprilia Racing's proposed rule change should not be implemented until 2026.
Davide Tardozzi believes that Aprilia's proposed rule change to allow injured MotoGP riders to participate in a private test before returning to racing should not be introduced until 2026.
Aprilia has proposed that injured riders who have missed multiple races should be allowed to participate in a private test before returning to a race weekend.
This new rule would aid Aprilia Racing in the return of Jorge Martin, who has missed the Thai and Argentine Grand Prix. It has also been confirmed that he will miss the American Grand Prix, and may miss the Qatar Grand Prix.
Ducati Lenovo's Team Manager, Tardozzi, likes the idea of the rule, but he does not want it to be introduced until the start of the 2026 season.
"I think that it could be a good idea for the future," Tardozzi told MotoGP.com pit lane reporter Jack Appleyard during FP2 on Saturday morning in Argentina.
"I think that we faced the same problem with [Enea] Bastianini [in 2023], but nobody gave us the opportunity to let him test.
"So, I think that it could be a good opportunity to change the rules for next year."
Tardozzi also stated that he doesn't think Martin needs a private MotoGP test before he returns to a race weekend.
"I think that Jorge [Martin] will not need a MotoGP test," Tardozzi said.
"I think that when he is recovered, he will be one of our [rivals]. We know very well Jorge, and we know that he will be one of the guys that will fight with us for the victory."
