Fabio Quartararo is to undergo x-rays on his ankle after suffering an injury while training ahead of the Dutch TT at Assen this weekend.
The Frenchman revealed the injury to media in the Netherlands, which will host Round 8 of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship, explaining he had a ‘full crash’ while out running, leading to a twisted ankle.
“I crashed running! I twisted my ankle, twisted my toe. And I will have the X-ray in one hour so hopefully nothing really big,” the Monster Energy Yamaha rider said, according to Crash.net.
“I had a full crash! I was running and I hit [tripped]…. it's dangerous running!”

Despite the set-back, Quartararo has indicated his determination to compete at Assen this weekend, even if he admits he may need to grit his teeth to get through the pain barrier.
“For sure I’m going to take some painkillers because it's [left foot] exactly where I have to shift, and where I have to really put some weight down to do the change of directions. So I will be much more tired, but it's part of the job.”
Quartararo’s injury is the second freak training accident to befall one of the MotoGP riders after Aleix Espargaro was left in tears of pain during P1 for the Italian MotoGP at Mugello after twisting his ankle in a cycling fall.
