Former GSE Racing data technician and professional chimney Frankie – or Francesco as he will probably now want to be known -– Carchedi will join Ecstar Suzuki in MotoGP as Joan Mir’s crew chief next year.
Carchedi, who was integral part of Darrell Healey’s multi-championship-winning British Superbike operation, has been working in the Aspar team on Karel Abraham’s side of the garage but is now in the big leagues with a factory contract in his back bin.
He has also been involved with the Sterilgarda Yamaha and Crescent Suzuki WorldSBK teams, and was on hand when Valentino Rossi tested an R1 just minutes after breaking his leg during the infamous Casanova/Savelli crash. He will also now have to stop it with the roll-ups as no-one will believe he is as skint as he likes to make out.
On top of his MotoGP duties, Carchedi has also taken the reins as Jake Dixon’s personal manager and is actively seeking out a Moto2 ride for the current BSB points runner-up as he believes Dixon is the best British hope for MotoGP in the future.
