Gresini Racing label Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez's 1-2 'a masterpiece'

Gold & Goose

Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez's first and second finishes in Thailand were predicted by the Gresini Racing Team.

The Marquez brothers 1-2 finish at last weekend's Thai Grand Prix has been labelled as 'a masterpiece' by Gresini Racing.

Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez were teammates inside the satellite Ducati team in 2024, before Marc moved on to the Ducati Lenovo Team this season.

The Thai Grand Prix was the first time the brothers had finished first and second in a race. The Spaniards were first and second in the Sprint Race on Saturday and the Grand Prix on Sunday.

Gresini Racing Team Manager, Michele Masini, knew that the brothers would finish first and second before the race had begun. The Gresini Racing Team was able to estimate the result based on the data shared across the three Ducati Teams.

"We knew from the data that Marc had a couple of tenths more," Masini told GPOne after the Thai Grand Prix last weekend.

"We knew that he needed to stay behind. I knew that he'd attack at the end. The important thing is that Alex [Marquez] didn't make mistakes as long as he was up in front, and he didn't let Pecco [Francesco Bagnaia] catch him. It was a masterpiece.

"I had already experienced the excitement of being on the podium with both of them last year at the Sachsenring, and we expected this result here," Masini said.

"It's a great joy. Marc [Marquez] is also very happy for us and for his brother [Alex Marquez]. A really strong relationship was created between our two families."
