Fermin Aldeguer will join the Gresini Racing MotoGP Team for the 2025 MotoGP season.
At the start of the 2024 season, it was announced that Fermin Aldeguer would ride for Ducati in 2025. However, his team was not announced and he was left waiting until this week to find out he would be riding for.
It was announced that the Spaniard will ride for the Gresini Racing Team in MotoGP. This means that Aldeguer will replace the outgoing Marc Marquez.
So far the 2024 Moto2 season has not gone well for Aldeguer. The SpeedUp Racing rider has won two races and has had two further podiums. The 19-year-old is fifth in the standings, 50 points behind Sergio Garcia at the top of the Championship.
"Now I can stay 100% calm, I have the bike, I have the team, and now it is time to fight for the Moto2 season," Aldeguer said.
"I am so happy with the announcement of being with Gresini next season. I have to say thank you to all the team and also Ducati Corse for this offer, I am ready."
Aldeguer was also asked about replacing Marquez in Gresini at the end of the season:
"I have to go into the box and take off the sticker. This is also more pressure because it is an eight-time World Champion! We have to stay calm and go step by step, I am a rookie, not an eight-time World Champion, we have to do our work."
Despite his poor start to the season Aldeguer believes with nine rounds left he can challenge for the Moto2 title:
"When I am on the bike I do not think about next year. When you see people saying 'You don't have a ride in MotoGP next year', or 'You don't have a team for next year' it is not nice for me. I will work all year to fight for the Championship and I will arrive in MotoGP at my best."
