Is Acosta looking at signing for a new manufacturer before the 2025 season has begun?

Gold & Goose

Ducati could swoop in and sign Pedro Acosta during KTM's financial crisis.

Pedro Acosta signed a multi-year deal with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team to ride in orange. However, according to recent reports, the future MotoGP superstar is already looking at other options outside of the Austrian manufacturer.

According to reports from GPOne, the Spaniard is looking at a move to Ducati after his time at KTM. Supposedly Acosta's manager, Albert Valera, has already been in talks with the Italian manufacturer.

These reports surfaced shortly after the recent critical financial situation that KTM have found themselves in. The Austrian company is in the middle of a restructuring plan to try to save itself from bankruptcy.

Despite the restructuring taking place at KTM, their MotoGP project will apparently stay untouched. Herve Poncharal recently spoke to GPOne and stated: "The Racing Department will not be touched by the Pierer Group's financial difficulties."

However, it seems that Valera and Acosta may be preparing for a worst-case scenario by hunting for a Ducati contract.

Although the factory Ducati squad of Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez are locked in until the end of the 2026 season. But the Spaniard could find his way into the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team as early as 2025.

Franco Morbidelli's deal with the VR46 Racing Team ends at the conclusion of the 2025 MotoGP season. If the Italian underperforms Ducati could decide not to re-sign Morbidelli and replace him with Acosta.
