'It was a nice experience but now it is time to work more' - Ogura begins his offseason training after his first MotoGP test

Gold and Goose

Ai Ogura enjoyed his first MotoGP test but knows he has plenty of work to do ahead of the 2025 season.

The 2024 Moto2 World Champion arrived in MotoGP this week at the Barcelona MotoGP Test. Ai Ogura has joined Trackhouse Racing for the 2025 MotoGP season and will ride the Aprilia RS-GP.

Ogura spent four years in Moto2 before he won the Moto2 title with the MT Helmets - MSi squad. The 23-year-old always seemed destined to join Honda in MotoGP after coming through the Honda Team Asia pathway. However, Ogura jumped ship from the Japanese manufacturer in favour of Aprilia.

The Japanese rider was the busiest of the three MotoGP rookies in the 2025 Barcelona Test. Ogura completed 86 laps throughout the one-day test and ended the day in 21st.

At the end of day one Ogura was the slowest of the four Aprilia riders and was only 1.1 seconds behind Aprilia debutant, Jorge Martin.

"Overall, I think it was a good day," Ogura told MotoGP.com.

"I had one crash in the morning but after that, I got my confidence back and slowly got faster.

"I understood many things after two or three laps, the acceleration surprised me. It was a nice experience but now it is time to work more."
